What Are Lucid Dreams?

Welcome to the world of Lucid Dreaming.

A lucid dream is a dream in which the person realizes that he/she is dreaming while the dream is in progress.

During lucid dreams, it is possible to exert conscious control over the dream characters and environment, as well as to perform physically impossible feats. Lucid dreams are known to be extremely real and vivid for those who have experienced them.

A lucid dream can begin in one of these ways:

A Dream Induced Lucid Dream (DILD) starts as a normal dream, and the dreamer eventually concludes that he or she is dreaming.

A Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream (MILD) employs prospective memory, remembering to do something (notice you're dreaming) in the future.

A Wake Induced Lucid Dream (WILD) when the dreamer goes from a normal waking state directly into a dream state with no apparent lapse in consciousness.

It is believed that anyone can 'awaken' in a dream and learn to manipulate the dream scene, characters or situations there in. It is a skill that takes a bit of time and effort. The more you experience lucid dreaming the easier it becomes to direct the dream world that is woven about you. Low, medium or high level lucidity... it's all good. Lucid experiences can be as boundless as the imagination.
